"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:25
In the fall, we and 3 other French ministries invited students to connect online and seek God together. The plan was for leaders from each ministry to share brief prayer requests with the large group before dividing into chat rooms to pray in groups of 5. We had a problem: there were too many people for one video conference. So how do we run multiple video conferences with the same live speakers in all of them?
Trent and Hugo, a young man we’ve mentioned before, set up a system to rebroadcast the main speakers into as many conference calls as needed. The price tag for this system? Not counting snacks: 0.
We had a blast with about 150 students from 60 towns. Most of the students were already involved in one of the ministries, but a few joined because a friend invited them, or because they simply saw and ad for “prayer night” on social media. One of these newcomers, Tiffany, wrote to us: “This was a first for me. I didn’t have the courage to turn on my microphone to pray, but I still prayed at home and it was super. Thank you so much for doing this! God bless you.”
Many students left comments about how WONDERFUL it was (yes, in all-caps), and how they wished they had had more time to pray. Many commented on how delightful it was to meet with different people from different communities and get a bigger picture of what God is doing in France. Everyone agreed it should be done again.
So our little team hosted another one in January, and God brought nearly 250 young people! Nathan wrote on his comment card, “I am praying about writing worship music and creating a worship band who will bless all French-speaking countries.” Many shared about their desire to get into the Word more, their desire to share Jesus’ hope with siblings or friends, and some are even praying about being sent to far-off places.
We staff have the privilege of hearing and reading such amazing things God is doing in the hearts and minds of young French believers. Fanny said, “We need each other to become real disciples of Christ. Let’s continue doing this in large and small groups!” Another said, “I’m going to keep praying for Véronique who said she’s thirsty for God and looking for a church in her town. I hope to connect with her again.”
The participants repeatedly expressed relief to connect with other believers their own age and pray for each other, their nation, and the world. Connection makes a big difference. Our staff team has expressed relief that God worked out all the technical aspects!
Will you pray with us that these “soirées de prière” will help solidify God’s direction in these precious students’ lives while reminding them that they are not alone? The body of Christ is united under one Spirit, one King, and he holds all authority in heaven and on earth.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
