“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thess. 5:18
Recently we met with a young family that was so excited about our ministry, Tara was moved to tears. Not only did they care about the French, they clearly cared about our marriage and our kids as well. It is hard to put into words how loved we felt. They reminded us of all of you who are behind us. And you remind us of our calling. As God is using you as salt and light; your stories inspire us to pray bigger. We are called to the same thing you are: helping people see Jesus. As we look at your faithfulness over these past 11 years, gratitude overwhelms us. God is so good! With fresh eyes we can see how God mirrors His grace and generosity through you. To that, we give “un grand MERCI !”
There was an error recently in our ministry account, and once it was straightened out, we were a bit surprised at how low the account was. The Lord, however, was not shocked. Then Tessa was born, and we prayed that God would provide. Certainly He had provided a cute cuddler. As we adjusted to new family life, the Lord began providing not just finances, but a sense of being deeply supported in prayer. He showed us what true ministry partners are— through you!
One of our prayer partners told me that she feels burdened to pray for Mauricette, our French “Grandma Neighbor.” She finds herself thinking about her and praying for her regularly! Many of you have said that you’re praying for our marriage, our kids’ faith, and our emotional well-being in France. We’re so thankful. We love that we can be transparent with you and be accepted even in tough times. Another family has offered to watch our girls so we can have a date. One family gave us a car! Many people have given us clothes, baby gear, and gift cards. It’s overwhelming! We’ve gotten to connect with some of you over a lovely meal. It’s clear that we were not forgotten. We have exceptionally caring partners in this ministry. Just knowing that you read this and pray for us means a lot!
We have a dear friend named Stephanie Mbappe, but everyone calls her “Mbappe” (pronounced “Bop-AY”). She and Tara hit it off 7 years ago when she was a student (left in pic.) She is a woman of mature character and great love for Jesus. Years ago, a few staff-members challenged her to join us. Tara remembers a conversation with her after several months of praying about it. Stephanie felt the Lord was leading her toward a different job where she could still volunteer with us, make some money to help support missions, and also witness to co-workers. Obviously we supported her decision. We have quietly prayed for years that, if God were to call her into missions, she would not fear support-raising. This past spring as she volunteered with us, Tara said to her, “I really feel like you are part of our staff team!”
Lo and behold, we just got news that Mbappe is joining Trent’s team this year as an official volunteer. She will do several months as a “test period,” and we’re excited to see what God might do with that. Trent is particularly pleased to have another member of his team (she’s now the third member), especially Mbappe, who is very talented and loves the Lord so sincerely.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
Love, Trent, Tara, Lydia, Rachel and Tessa
